Pray
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”
Spend some time praying for God our shepherd to prepare and humble our hearts to hear his truth.
Read Luke 7:18-33
What stands out to you in this passage? What immediately strikes you about Jesus and his character?
What is John the Baptist asking Jesus? What does this question reveal about John?
Jesus answers John the Baptist by pointing to his miracles and the uniqueness of his preaching to the poor. Read Isaiah 35:3-10. What does this tell us about Jesus as well as God’s faithfulness?
For what reasons, then and now, do people find Jesus offensive?
What does Jesus rebuke the Pharisees and lawyers for in this passage (Luke 7:31-34)? How do they serve as a caution and a warning for us?
We live in a point of history with the greatest vantage point into God’s fulfilment of all his promises. What does v28 reveal about the nature of God’s kingdom?
